WHAT IS HOPE LIGHTHOUSE ?

Hope Lighthouse Mission Church is a non-profit inner city mission church and community outreach center ministering to those who are homeless, fatherless, motherless, loveless, directionless, hopeless, or feel pointless in a seemingly Godless society.

WHY ME LORD?

Before coming to Christ, I lived in the infamous Cass Corridor of Detroit. At one point, I had to identify my common law wife of ten years in a morgue, dead of a heroin overdose and give up my nineteen month old son because I could not take care of him properly in my addiction. For over twenty years I lived a life of no hope, addiction to heroin, constant returns to jail or prison and submersion in a life of death and destruction.

God delivered me from all that and set my feet on the Solid Rock, JESUS. I went through the Detroit Teen Challenge, a one year discipleship and Bible program, worked four years with Western Michigan Teen Challenge in Muskegon, Michigan, became a licensed minister through the Berean School of the Bible and worked with a mission's agency for one year. I married Sui, in 1995, and together, with God's leading, we opened the Hope Lighthouse Mission Church in 1996. We want others to know the hope of Jesus.

WHAT IS THE PLAN & PURPOSE?

Reach the unchurched, the needy, and the hurting, through; street rallies, music, coffee house ministry, a free community oriented Christian publication, one-on-one evangelism, prayer walks, a children's latch key program, neighborhood clean up squads.

Meet physical needs; food, clothing, a resident discipleship program, short term shelter, job training and health referrals as we are able.

Meet spiritual needs through the preaching and teaching of the Word, prayer, Christian fellowship, lively worship and biblical counseling. (Medics are taught to perform C.P.R. to sustain life in the natural. God has taught us through His Word to perform T.P.R. - Teaching, Preaching and Reaching). Based on John 14:6; to teach the way of Christ, to preach the truth of Christ and to help others reach for the life of Christ.

Give people a home church they can take ownership of through discipleship, mentoring and building of relationships in Christ Jesus (Heb 10:25) ... and to have a place that is a safe haven for area children and base of operations for evangelistic teams (soul patrols).

To train, equip, inspire and ignite brothers and sisters who will take this city and beyond for God by ..... bearing fruit that remains (perpetuates itself).

WHAT ARE THE RESULTS?

The work is slow and deliberate. We continue to gain trust and credibility which only comes through time, commitment and consistency. We have ministered and witnessed to area merchants, city workers, street people, residents, drug addicts, prostitutes, children, etc. We have led many in decisions for Christ and have watched many grow and change. We have fed and clothed people, become known as a safe haven and also as a place where people can come as they are and find the love and compassion of Jesus.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Precious souls are slipping through the cracks in cities like Muskegon Heights all across America and our traditional churches and methods are not able or equipped to reach many of them. We have a clear mandate from JUDE 23 to: "Snatch others from the fire and save them....."

We are told that about every 10 minutes 100 souls go into eternity without Jesus, lost forever. Since 1996, starting with no money, no building and no track record of credibility God has raised up a viable and effective ministry in Hope Lighthouse. We now operate a small church in the neighborhood, three discipleship homes, a community center in the downtown Muskegon area, our Fire Escape Cafe store front, and have become a stepping stone toward recovery for many hurting people . WE ARE BARELY SCRATCHING THE SURFACE!

We are in great need of churches, businesses and individuals who will pray for us, volunteer time and/or materials, adopt us as an inner city missions work and support us financially on a one time, monthly or periodic basis.
